Friday evening coil building with Lia Alzamora Valdez

Friday evenings 6pm to 8pm.

Finish your working week with a casual and calming coil-building class led by the talented Lia Alzamora Valdez. Help your mind to switch off and wind down and embrace the peaceful rhythm that working with clay offers.

In this class you'll discover the meditative qualities of coil building, where the repetitive motion of your hands shaping the clay becomes a soothing ritual that calms the mind allowing you to focus on the present moment and release the stresses of the week.

Lia’s teaching philosophy centers on the beauty of imperfection and the organic shapes that naturally emerge as you work. Rather than striving for flawless precision, Lia will encourage you to appreciate the unique character that each piece takes on and to celebrate the individual marks and textures that tell a story of human touch. These classes are about more than just creating art; they’re about embracing the beauty in life’s irregularities and finding peace in the process. 

Each class gives you the opportunity to make a gorgeous piece which we will bisque, glaze and fire for you to pick up about 3 weeks later. If you prefer, come for a few classes and build and refine your masterpieces while you explore your creativity and rejuvinate your soul. Additional pieces can be kept for a fee. 

Coiling not your thing? Hand-buiding techniques are almost as limitless in potential as the clay we use. Check out our other hand-building classes or try your hand at throwing. There really is no down side. 

Please note that this class needs a minimum of 2 students to run. Participants will be notified the Wednesday evening before the Friday evening class if it needs to be resheduled.
